Non-Residential Dishwasher

To be eligible, restaurants and food service facilities (for example, assisted living facilities, schools, care facilities, hospitals) must be considered large establishments with a seating room for at least 150 guests.

Restaurants and other food service facilities use a significant amount of water. According to the U.S. EPA, kitchens account for about 50% of total water use by restaurants. By replacing existing, non-Energy Star certified dishwashers with Energy Star certified Conveyor-Type Dishwashers, businesses can save $1,500 annually from increased water and energy efficiency, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

• Restaurants or food service establishments must be an existing potable water utility customer of the city of Tampa, city of St. Petersburg, city of New Port Richey, Pinellas County, Pasco County or Hillsborough County.
• Restaurants or food service establishments must seat 150 or more to be eligible for the rebate.
• Eligible restaurants and other food service establishments must be full service with operable, existing conveyor-type dishwasher(s) that are not EPA Energy Star labeled.
• Applicants must provide the brand and model number of the dishwasher that is being replaced.
• New conveyor-type dishwasher must be EPA Energy Star certified.
• Estimated water use in gallons for existing dishwashers must be provided. Please review the FAQs for instructions on calculating water use.
• Applications must be submitted within 1 year of purchase.
• New conveyor-type dishwasher may be purchased or leased for at least 5 years of use at one location, within the utility service area initially installed. Leased products are only eligible with maintenance agreements specifying the terms of the lease and maintenance.
• You must agree to the Customer Agreement (see below)

• Either a purchase receipt with brand, model number, itemized costs, number of units purchased, payment indication, purchase date and install date (if applicable), OR a lease agreement with all details listed above, and a 5 year maintenance agreement specified.
• A copy of your utility bill is required.
• If rebate is payable to a representative of the owner, a completed and signed general release form is required. You may download a general release form here.

• Applicant must be an existing potable water utility customer of the city of Tampa, city of St. Petersburg, city of New Port Richey, Pinellas County, Pasco County or Hillsborough County.
• Tampa Bay Water Wise reserves the right to verify the purchase and installation of upgrades. If the rebate inspector is unable to conduct a scheduled inspection to verify the purchase and/or installation, the rebate check may not be issued.
• Applicant must allow Tampa Bay Water Wise or its third-party inspector access to review the completed installation for up to two (2) years after a rebate check has been paid in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the program.
• Tampa Bay Water Wise reserves the right to inspect all submissions to determine eligibility. Fraudulent requests for rebates or duplicate submissions will be denied. Any paid rebates will be subject to repayment to Tampa Bay Water Wise if fraudulent activity is determined.
• Applications submitted with missing or incomplete information will be subject to processing delays and/or denial of the rebate request.
• Complete rebate applications submitted may take up to 30 days to be processed, approved and rebate checks sent out. Rebate approval is at the sole discretion of Tampa Bay Water Wise, and submission of a rebate application does not guarantee rebate approval.
• In order to receive a rebate, applicants must fulfill application requirements, meet rebate criteria, and accept the customer agreement.
• Rebate(s) will be issued as a check made payable to the account holder or property owner. Checks will not be issued to third parties or contractors, unless designated by the property owner with a general release form here.
• The rebate issued cannot exceed the purchase price of the installed product and applicable labor.
• Rebates are offered on new products only. Used or refurbished items are not eligible for a rebate.
• Unless explicitly stated, all products must be owned or leased by the customer. Leased products are eligible for a rebate if 5 years of maintenance requirements are included in the lease and provided as part of the application.
• New construction projects are not eligible.
• Purchases or lease agreements must be dated on or after March 1, 2020, with applications submitted within 1 year of purchase or lease.

• Who is eligible to receive non-residential rebates?

• Only property owners listed in the county property appraiser’s records are eligible to receive rebates unless an authorized representative is designated by the property owner through a general release form. You may download a general release form here.

• How do I calculate the water use of my existing conveyer-type dishwasher?

• The existing washer cannot be an EPA Energy Star certified model. To estimate the water use of the existing dishwasher, assume it uses 1.1 gallons per rack for single or multi-tank conveyor washers. Estimate the number of times the washer runs each day, for each dishwasher that is being replaced. This will yield the total number of gallons of water used per day by the existing dishwasher(s).
  An EPA Energy Star dishwasher can be estimated to use 0.70 gallons per rack for single-tank conveyor, and 0.54 gallons per rack for multiple-tank conveyor washers.
