The Tampa Bay Water Wise program is offering rebates to restaurants and food service establishments that replace old pre-rinse spray valves with water-efficient models. Your facility may be eligible for pre-rinse spray valve and other rebates, so be sure to check those out too.
Restaurants and food industry establishments that replace their existing 3.0 gallons per minute pre-rinse spray valves with valves that meet the U.S. Department of Energy standard of 1.00 to 1.28 gallons per minute can receive a $50 rebate. Once the existing spray valves have been replaced, the older, inefficient models must be properly disposed of or recycled.
Pre-rinse spray valves are responsible for nearly one-third of the water used in a commercial kitchen, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Almost 53 billion gallons of water are used each year by commercial kitchens to rinse their dishes!
By replacing pre-rinse spray valves with new valves that meet the U.S. Department of Energy standard, you can save water and money with this rebate.
The following shows the classes of models that are eligible for a rebate. To check to see if the model you have chosen qualifies, you may review the product specs to match the new pre-rinse spray valve to one of the following classes.
Product Classification (spray force in ounce-force, ozf)
Flow Rate (gallons per minute, GPM)
|Product Class 1 (<5.0 ozf)||1.00 max|
|Product Class 2 (>5.0 ozf and <8.0 ozf)||1.20 max|
|Product Class 3 (>8.0 ozf)||1.28 max|
