Businesses, schools and other non-residential facilities can save water and cut down on utility bills by replacing old fixtures with water-efficient models. Tampa Bay Water Wise offers toilet rebates up to $75 per tank-type toilet.
See detailed general and documentation requirements below.
To be eligible, customers must replace a toilet that was manufactured in 1993 or earlier, which may be found in buildings that were built in 1994 or earlier. See below for details about how to determine the date of manufacture of a toilet.
New toilets must be EPA WaterSense certified toilets. These high efficiency toilets use only 1.28 gallons per flush (or less.), potentially resulting in a significant reduction in potable water use compared to 3.5 gallon per flush models!
By replacing older toilets with newer, water-saving toilets, businesses can significantly reduce their water usage and potentially save money.
# of Toilets Replaced | # Photos required |
1-10 | One photo per toilet, up to 10 photos |
11-49 | 10 photos |
50 or more | Please contact a Tampa Bay Water Wise to schedule a pre-installation inspection at (727) 791-2323. |
Remove the lid from the top of the tank. Look closely just above the water line for the toilet’s manufacture date, or look on the lid. You may need to use a flashlight. The date may be an ink stamp, or imprint or etching in the wall. If the date is 1993 or earlier, this toilet will qualify for a rebate. If there is no clear date stamp, take a photo of the numbers and letters that are stamped inside the tank and lid, and take a photo of the entire toilet.
Toilets manufactured in 1994 or later — which are not eligible — usually have an ink stamp stating “1.6 gpf” on the toilet bowl. A 1.6 gpf (gallons per flush) toilet is not eligible for the rebate.
If more than 20 toilets will be rebated, and you are concerned about eligibility, you may contact a qualified representative of Tampa Bay Water Wise to assess the eligibility of the property at (727) 791-2323.
Only property owners listed in the county property appraiser’s records are eligible to receive rebates, unless an authorized representative is designated by the property owner through a general release form. You may download a general release form here..
