Non-Residential Tank-Type Toilet

• A photograph of the date stamp in the tank of each old (pre-1994) toilet that will be replaced, or a free pre-installation inspection.

To be eligible, customers must replace a toilet that was manufactured in 1993 or earlier, which may be found in buildings that were built in 1994 or earlier. See below for details about how to determine the date of manufacture of a toilet.

New toilets must be EPA WaterSense certified toilets. These high efficiency toilets use only 1.28 gallons per flush (or less.), potentially resulting in a significant reduction in potable water use compared to 3.5 gallon per flush models!

By replacing older toilets with newer, water-saving toilets, businesses can significantly reduce their water usage and potentially save money.

• The rebate of up to $75 helps with the cost of new toilets.
• Reduced water use may lower your utility bill because the water use per toilet will be reduced by 60%.
• Products that earn the WaterSense certified label are independently certified to ensure they meet water efficiency and quality performance standards.

• You must be an existing potable water utility customer of the city of Tampa, city of St. Petersburg, city of New Port Richey, Pinellas County, Pasco County or Hillsborough County.
• The toilet being replaced must use 3.5 gallons per flush or more. Toilets that were manufactured in 1993 or earlier are eligible. To check the date of manufacture, please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions below.
• Eligible non-residential buildings must have been built prior to 1995.
• Applications must be submitted within 1 year of purchase.
• To qualify for a rebate, all installed toilets must be listed on the EPA WaterSense certified eligibility list, which is available online at https://lookforwatersense.epa.gov/Product-Search-Results-Toilets.html.
• If 50 or more toilets are going to be replaced, you must schedule a free pre-installation inspection to ensure full qualification. If 20 or more toilets will be replaced, you may choose to schedule a free pre-installation inspection to ensure full qualification. See Documentation Requirements more information.
• Applicant agrees to Customer Agreement (see below)

• A photograph of each old toilet you wish to replace—clearly showing the year of manufacture or the gallons per flush (gpf)—is required. The number of photos you need to submit is outlined in the chart below. You may also schedule a free pre-installation inspection to ensure the units qualify by calling (727) 791-2323.

  As an alternative, or if you are unable to provide the photographs, you may have both your old and newly installed toilets inspected. The number of old toilets you have to keep is the same as the number of photos you would have submitted. The old toilets will be inspected at the same time as your newly installed toilets. After a successful inspection, a rebate will be issued if all terms of the rebate are met.
• A purchase receipt with brand, model number, itemized costs, number of units purchased, payment indication, purchase date and install date (if applicable).
• A copy of your utility bill is required.
• If rebate is payable to an authorized representative of the owner, a completed and signed general release form is required. You may download a general release form here.

• Applicant must be an existing potable water utility customer of the city of Tampa, city of St. Petersburg, city of New Port Richey, Pinellas County, Pasco County or Hillsborough County.
• Tampa Bay Water Wise reserves the right to verify the purchase and installation of the toilet(s) through a post-installation inspection. If the rebate inspector is unable to conduct a scheduled inspection to verify purchase and/or installation, the rebate check may not be issued.
• Applicant must allow Tampa Bay Water Wise or its third-party inspector access to review the completed installation for up to two (2) years after a rebate check has been paid in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the program.
• Tampa Bay Water Wise reserves the right to inspect all rebate submissions to determine eligibility. Fraudulent requests for rebates or duplicate submissions will be denied. Any paid rebates will be subject to repayment to Tampa Bay Water Wise if fraudulent activity is determined.
• Applications submitted with missing or incomplete information will be subject to processing delays and/or denial of the rebate request.
• Complete rebate applications submitted may take up to 30 days to be processed, approved and have rebate checks sent out. Rebate approval is at the sole discretion of Tampa Bay Water Wise, and submission of a rebate application does not guarantee rebate approval.
• In order to receive a rebate, applicants must fulfill application requirements, meet rebate criteria, and accept the customer agreement.
• Rebate(s) will be issued as a check made payable to the account holder or property owner. Checks will not be issued to third parties or contractors, unless designated by the property owner with a general release form here.
• The rebate issued cannot exceed the purchase price of the installed product.
• Rebates are offered on new products only. Used or refurbished items are not eligible for a rebate.
• All products must be owned by the customer. Rented or leased products are not eligible for a rebate.
• New construction projects are not eligible.
• Purchases must be made on or after March 1, 2020, with applications submitted within 1 year of purchase.

• How do I determine the date of manufacture for my existing toilet?

• Remove the lid from the top of the tank. Look closely just above the water line for the toilet’s manufacture date, or look on the lid. You may need to use a flashlight. The date may be an ink stamp, or imprint or etching in the wall. If the date is 1993 or earlier, this toilet will qualify for a rebate. If there is no clear date stamp, take a photo of the numbers and letters that are stamped inside the tank and lid, and take a photo of the entire toilet.
  
  Toilets manufactured in 1994 or later — which are not eligible — usually have an ink stamp stating “1.6 gpf” on the toilet bowl. A 1.6 gpf (gallons per flush) toilet is not eligible for the rebate.

• I am replacing more than 20 toilets. How can I arrange for Tampa Bay Water to assess the property to ensure all of the units qualify?

• Who is eligible to receive non-residential rebates?
